► (1886-1963) Político francés. Fue uno de los fundadores del Movimiento Republicano Popular (MRP). Inició el Tratado de la Comunidad Europea del Carbón y del Acero. Como jefe del Gobierno había reconocido la independencia vietnamita e iniciado una aproximación a Alemania.

Estadista francés. Fue miembro de la Asamblea Nacional francesa desde 1919. Después de participar en la Resistencia francesa en la segunda guerra mundial, ayudó a fundar el Movimiento Republicano Popular. Se desempeñó como ministro en diversas carteras como finanzas (1946), primer ministro (1947–48), asuntos exteriores (1948–52) y justicia (1955–56). En 1950 propuso el plan Schuman para promover la unidad económica y militar europea, lo que condujo a la Comunidad Europea del Carbón y del Acero (CECA) y a la Comunidad Económica Europea (CEE). Fue presidente de la asamblea parlamentaria de la CEE (1958–60).
